Panasonic TX-P50X50B 50 inch HD Ready Freeview HD Plasma TV

Was looking for a decent Television within my budget as our old one decided to pack in just before Christmas.Decided to 'join' woolworths because of the flexible payment options, and then after some research went to order the Panasonic 42", unfortunately by the time I came to place the order they'd sold out, so then decided to go for the 50" version of the same model, why not?.I was a little worried about it not arriving in time for Christmas, but no problem at all, I was advised of the day, and then had a call from the drivers that morning to say what time, and sure enough it arrived, despite Christmas traffic and weather! Excellent service throughout, thanks guys!
As for the TV, I was shocked when I realised just how big it was when I unboxed, but after fixing to the wall, within a few days we didn't really notice the TV's size, but really appreciated it's benefits when we started watching some movies, which is where IMO Plasma really outshines LCD in performance and picture quality.This isn't FULL 1080P, but too be honest, at a sensible viewing distance it looks better than most Full HD LCD sets, and the blacks are far better.Obviously with an HD source it's superb, but surprisingly, especially bearing in mind it's large screen size makes the quality even more noticable, just how good it's picture processing engine handles regular SD channels, very impressive.
I've always liked Panasonic products, and this is yet another example of why, bearing in mind my budget, it's obviously not one of their flagship models, and yet I was truly surprised at the quality for what is a very reasonable price given it's size and specification.Good design and features, even down to the remote control, which are easy to use, and of course it has a decent range of connectivity options for not only HDMI, but legacy devices ..Hopefully, it'll also have their usual reliability.
If I could fault anything, it would be that the screen is very reflective, although probably not more so than some of the old CRT TV's, but bearing this in mind try to avoid it facing a window, or strong source of light.Obviously at night for movie viewing this isn't an issue, but it does mean this television is really going to be at it's best in a dimmly lit room.
If you've wanted to go for the big screen, then you'll not be disappointed at this price, it's a great television.
