Pokemon Soul Silver version takes you back to the scenic Johto region first introduced in the original Pokemon Gold and Pokemon Silver games nearly a decade ago. The Nintendo DS updated graphics sound and touch screen add new layers of intrigue and excitement to this richly detailed adventure. Heart Gold and Soul Silver both feature new Pokemon characters to explore and discover. You can also enjoy the return of many of the classic Pokemon characters for you to catch & train and battle. The game is bundled with peripheral called the Pokewalker; a pedometer on which players can transfer a single creature to walk alongside them in the real world. Your steps are converted into a currency to unlock mini games; while helping to train your chosen Pokemon so they are more effective in battle. Pokemon Soul Silver can access the Nintendo WiFi Connection and is also fully compatible with Pokemon Diamond, Pearl and Platinum. Another new part of the game is the Pokeathlon a suite of stylus based mini games such as hurdling. Pokemon Gold Heart version is also available PG831. Age from 3 years. |

Nostalgic Bliss
The major difference with this version from the original is the addition of the new peripheral, the Pokewalker. This is a pedometer with a few minigames that can help you level up your pokemon as you go about your daily routine.
Although the game isn't as story driven as it could be, the urge to "Catch 'em all" compensates for this (I've lost 36 hours to this game in the last 10 days!!), a factor which also adds to the longetivity of the game.
With over 200 Pokemon to collect plus the time spent levelling up your favourites to make them suitable for battle, you're looking at almost 100 hours of time spent just to finish the game, never mind collecting and evolving all Pokemon!!
All in all, I'd say this game is definitely money well spent and is suitable for anyone from young children (old enough to read), up to full grown adults who just want to don those rose tinted specs and follow the adventure they played when they were still kids!!
Positives: Playable, Great Gameplay, Addictive
Negatives: Not Very Story Driven
